Castaway™ herbicide represents an ideal tool for selectively managing undesirable vegetation in a wide variety of terrestrial and aquatic sites, including lakes, ponds, recreation areas, drainage and irrigation canals, wetlands, grazed, hay production, wildlife openings and rights-of-way sites. Aquatic sites treated with Castaway pose no restrictions for livestock watering, swimming, fishing or domestic uses. Targeted vegetation selectively controlled by Castaway include many floating, shoreline, emergent and submersed aquatic weed species; and of particular notability, the highly invasive and exotic Chinese tallow tree (Sapium sebiferum).
Depending on the site and targeted species, Castaway may be applied as a foliar application through ground, boat or fixed-wing and rotary aircraft, or by means of subsurface-injection from suitable watercraft. Applications of Castaway are quickly absorbed by exposed foliage or roots of susceptible species and then translocated to meristematic tissues, prompting a rapid cessation of further growth. Thereafter, the thorough systemic power of Castaway’s active component causes the demise of susceptible weeds; roots and all, by interrupting their ability to process nutrients.
